With her mother being a cabaret singer and her father a television producer, Katharine could not have been any less talented. As it is said, the apple does not fall far from the tree. Her mother noticed Katharine’s talent when she was only 2 years old and she has been singing ever since. After performing in many school musicals and plays, she decided to attend the classes of the Boston Conservatory, but she gave up after three semesters, in order to return to L.A. to follow her dream.

Her career was put away though because of the eating disorders she has suffered from. Katharine confessed that this problems began when she was only 13. obsessed with losing weight, she stared to starve herself and then, at 17, she became bulimic. She struggled with these eating disorders for seven years, until she finally realized how much harm she had done to herself and she decided to enter a rehabilitation program. Meanwhile, she has passed the American Idol auditions for the fifth edition, and luckily for her the program ended right before the semifinals started.

American Idol was the triggering point of her career. During the contest she lost 30 pounds thanks to the recently developed healthy program. She started to eat better and now she says that she allows herself to eat whatever she wants, but she is careful with the quantities. Although Katharine McPhee did not win the contest (she finished as the runner-up), the popularity she gained thanks to the show helped her advance her career. There’s no denying that Katharine McPhee is a beautiful young woman. When most people see a picture of her, they can help but spend a few seconds looking at it. However, Katharine McPhee is much more than a pretty face. As she proved during her time on American Idol, McPhee is a very talented performer. It’s hard to believe that it’s only been a little more than five years since the world was first introduced to her on Idol. The reason this is hard to believe is because she has done so much during the last five years.

When she appeared on American Idol, she was only twenty-three years old. Although she was young, she showed that she wasn’t afraid to perform in front of a huge audience. While this would terrify many people, the reason it seemed so easy for McPhee is because she has been singing since the age of two. This meant that while she was young on Idol, she already had nearly two decades of experience under her belt. Additionally, because her mother has also done very well as a singer, Katharine has known for a long-time what it takes to be successful in the music industry.

Using her exposure on Idol and long list of talents, McPhee has continued to move up through the ranks of Hollwyood. In addition to staying focused on her music, McPhee has branched out into other areas as well. For example, she appeared in the very popular movie “The House Bunny.”

Katharine McPhee is an American pop singer who gained nationwide attention when she finished as a runner-up in the 2006 season of American Idol.

Since then, McPhee has gone on to act in movies and on television. IMDB.com indicates that she has a movie, “You May Not Kiss the Bride” in post-production.

In 2010, she appeared as Amber in an episode of the series, “Community,” about a lawyer who is forced to attend a community college when the bar association decides his degree is invalid.

McPhee has also appeared on “CSI: NY” in an episode entitled “Prey,” about a murder victim who turns out to have been a violent stalker.

In 2008, McPhee played Harmony in the romantic comedy, “The House Bunny,” starring Anna Faris, Colin Hanks, Emma Stone and Kat Dennings. The plot concerns a Playboy bunny who gets evicted from the mansion but ends up at a sorority house on the verge of closing.

The same year, McPhee took the role of Paramount Girl in the movie, “Crazy,” based on the life of Nashville studio guitarist, Hank Garland, who recorded with Roy Orbison, Elvis Presley and Patsy Cline.

McPhee also released an album on RCA Records in 2007, the self-titled “Katharine McPhee,” which sold 116,000 copies in the first week. RCA Records has since released her from her contract, evidently unhappy with overall sales of the album and the two singles it spawned.

In 2009, McPhee signed a contract with Verge Forecast Records, which released her second album, “Unbroken,” which sold 15,000 copies in its first week. The album features McPhee’s songwriting skills, pairing her with other writers, including Richard Marx, Troy Verges and Barry Dean.
